What was built
- Voice line with a Nepali persona that greets with the shop's name, answers catalogue questions with the authoritative price, and takes orders: items, quantities, delivery address, read back and confirmed, then a delivery order with an ID.
- Facebook Messenger on the shop's page, answered by the same AI from the same catalogue, with product videos sent on request and running ads the AI knows about. 31–75 replies a day.
- Follow-up dialler: customers who did not answer, or who asked to be called later, are redialled up to three times a day, only between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., with the context of the last conversation and the catalogue price in the script.
- Owner alerts for orders that need approval, and a statement page for postpaid per-minute billing with the first seconds of every call free.
The hard parts
A shop AI must never invent a price or an order number. Early calls showed both risks: an item the catalogue listed at Rs 1,200 was answered with 'no information' because the search looked only at the FAQ, and in test simulations the AI once produced an order ID that did not exist. The fixes: the compact catalogue is always in the AI's view with prices marked authoritative, search covers catalogue and FAQ together (52 of 62 test questions became 60 of 62), and order IDs come only from the database.
Audio mattered too. The echo gate let short noises through while the AI spoke, so 40% of its replies were being cut off mid-sentence. After the fix, 77% of detected interruptions were real words.
Finally, a missed-order alarm re-checks every call where an order was started but not finished, so the owner calls back the same day. On historical calls it caught all four real lost orders while cutting false alarms from 88 to 11.
What the owner sees
Orders with product links and status, the Messenger inbox with the AI's replies, follow-up outcomes, call recordings and transcripts, and a monthly statement of billed minutes. Running ads are registered in the dashboard with an end date so the AI stops mentioning them on time.
